spring sunset

Photobucket

The sweet light is back. I missed it terribly. The sun coming through our window was so beautiful and warm and uplifting.

When I was in college, there was a period where all of my work was yellow toned (through NO intervention of my own), and though the images were beautiful and happy, the tone made them see
m,... well..., foreboding. As if at any moment, my life was about to turn into a horror movie, or worse yet, these were going to be used in the next coming America's Most Wanted, and these were the pictures they would use as illustrations as they told my story.

The thing about this is that the images were HAPPY and BEAUTIFUL. I did not know why they turned
out this way. Why they read this way. It was frustrating at the time, like my work was telling me something about myself.

However, this is the work I was creating right before unmadeup (see sample and artist statement
). Now, if history repeats itself, and it does, I can accurately be deliriously excited about starting my next big project.

I went to a photo conference this past weekend, and I made a complete fool of myself yesterday purchasing the necessary supplies to make a light box.

See, Richard Avedon did unbelievable portraits using a large format camera, like this:

So, its being built this week by me and T, and there will be some portraits up so SOON! Can't WAIT!
