wednesdays: bribery doesn't go far in our house
its not used often. but I was slightly desperate. didn't work, of course. W brought her the step stool and the toys. it had been awhile of her squawking wanting for someone to get her off the chairs. Now its over, and she just gets down, but oh my, what a travail to teach her.

wednesdays: a "new" old one
so before Mami got serviced (by Forster's. They're great), she was doing this funky thing where she wouldn't advance rolls, and then she would only go to exposure 6. Anyway, this film was before I took her in. I've finally scanned it. I found this image and the double exposure didn't show up initially, until I started messing with the scan curve. WHOA.
its funky and fun. I like it. Its circa april 2010.

wednesdays: safe places
he's close to his uncle. he gravitates to him when we're all together.
this was the day we learned that you can actually spin a child so much that he throws up.
poor thing.
thankfully, that is not what he remembers from that day.
p.s. remember when our little family digicam was on the wrong setting (thanks again, honey) and a picture i love love loved was small and i can't do anything with it?
it happened again with the image above. doh. worse that I had my film camera with me. the digi was in my hand bc i had just been doing a little video.
argh missed opportunities.

wednesdays: central park
i will not deny
i bribed him to stay there.
with an ice cream from a vendor.
he picked a spiderman one.
........
but seeing him and E share it, and seeing their covered,
sticky,
messy happy
faces, was worth it in the short run.
this picture is more than worth it in the long run.
mamiya c330, ilford xp2-- i am completely in love with this film.

dinosaur eggs
Today is a mom day. Where I try my hardest to steer clear of all the rest of the stuff in my life (except during naptime) and just BE a mom. Read stories all day, color, lay on the floor. With our upcoming updownallaround east coast extravaganza trip coming up, I know that I need to get back into funmom mode. Do you do that?
Some of my favorite, inspirational home ladies had a rockin' tutorial for easter that is perfect for hand-ons, BOY fun. It is a great introduction to dyeing eggs... when wee ones are tooooooo little to have the desire for anything other than smashing and dropping eggs.
I think I might try these next.

wednesdays: bookshop
I love the written word. I hope the countless hours of story-reading to my children (by me and T both) helps them love reading as much as my mom reading to myself my siblings created a love of reading in all of us. E is rummaging in my purse, but W is "reading" a book. W and I just read a book that was a little scary for him (didn't know) but it was touching to watch him be brave til the end of the story.

wednesdays: FOUND
the post for wednesdays is early this week because wednesday is a BIG day around here. More to come on that.
Was SO excited to find this baby in an old camera bag. I'm dejunking, (spring) and I thought I had an old USSR rangefinder (I do, but its at the studio), and I had TOTALLY forgotten about this one. I spent the afternoon checking it out and it is SWEET. Looks like next month (or even part of this month's one roll a month) will be on this baby. yay!

This seems to happen more than once in my life. I love it. Hopefully its clear that my house isn't all calm on the western front (have you read that book? I haven't. Should I?), but is definitely filled with bliss, chaos, and moments of photographic clarity.

wednesdays: under the table

did you finish my title with "and dreaming?" For a long while now, under the table has been W's domain. He loves it. Pretends there are monsters, pretends he's a monster. Just this last month, he's letting E into this space without pummeling her. In general, he's not a combative child, and is nice and loving to sweet miss bliss. But under the table has been his thing.
2nd image: he stayed that way for me. I think this is probably his first directed image. Just wanted to note it so I don't forget it.

Wednesdays: He's Three!

full of the marvelous facial expressions and questions.
Emotional and caring and physically active. Inquistive.
Happy. Honest. Imaginative. my favorite part.
best friends with his dad, takes so much after him that I almost get a
double dose of that endearing sense of humor I fell in love with.
ps I totally love that top one so much.
pps the bottom one, oh my gosh, check out his face! he was loving EVERY SINGLE MINUTE of shouting "hello from outer space" at strangers.

wednesdays: the W

finally took W here last wednesday. Have been dreaming about it for AGES. It was raining. He was so attached to this balloon from the craft store..... looking at the image now made me remember last april (2009), when I took this picture of him.

still obsessed with balloons, but oh, how he has grown! And now there are two!
as a side note--- can't quite decide if i want to edit out those powerlines. I think probably so. Since this image shows that we have a theme, apparently.

wednesdays: lotion

Once upon a time there was a little boy who had CRAZY dry skin who HATED to get lotioned up after bathtime. hated.
One day, papa left the lotion down. mama walked in and found said boy in the middle of the photographed action.... and so... she photographed instead of freaked. happy memory marker.
