wednesdays:the hospital

after another bout with an ear infection, we woke up thursday to this:

T and I were both concerned, hit the doctor's office, and the verdict: allergic to amoxicillin. Started W on a benadryl regimen. Woke up at 2am Friday morning to this:

Rushed to ER, seeing as his face was 3x normal size. Lips were swollen. Photographed to be able to process and cope:

and then we're taken in. The monitors are on. W is scared. We're scared. Nothing seems to be getting better. He wants to nurse the entire time (these last pictures were taken in a 5-second distraction relief from T).

Hours and multiple medications later, Dr. Jackman let us go home, told us to CLOSELY monitor his spots, swelling, etc. (can I quickly mention this happened on Friday the 13th, when W was 13 months and 13 days old. EERIE!)

We're home. Its Sunday. He finally looks almost normal again. We're playing on the bed. He's laughing again. And then, he bumps his head, big time:

Can you see that outline of his goose-egg on his forehead?! (just a note, both of these pictures were taken AFTER he was soothed and calmed after his bump. Not right after it happened. That would be cruel).

So, here's hoping your friday the 13th was A LOT better than ours.

Oh my goodness! Alisha! I don't know how you survived all that. Those are the scariest pictures, but I'm so glad to hear that W is doing better now.

I am really glad they translated, for the three of us they still read as kind of surreal.

aw, little W! I'm allergic to amoxicillin too, so I guess that means he and I can be buddies now. I'm glad it all turned out okay!

oh poor wallace! my baby also likes to be nursed when he's upset. and is it really cruel to take pictures when babies are crying? it's just so cute to me in a heartbreaking sort of way...

glad to have found your blog by the way ^_^

photographer and mother make such an awesome combination. You always have a baby at your disposal to experiment (kindly, with lights and cameras) on, and as a mother you get tons of photos to cherish
