I photographed Kim's engagements and her wedding, now it was time for bridals! It was really smart to do them after (since she wouldn't be showing bridal prints at the reception) because we were able to do some that we probably wouldn't have if it was before the wedding. Here's a few to tease your appetite. See the rest HERE.

Meet Karin and Clint. They're great. My husband and I became friends with them shortly after we were married and they were our first friends who only knew us as a couple, a unit. I like that. I'm glad we're still friends and I was able to photograph them.

I know it has been snowing here, but these are actual Snow People! hehe. Last name of Snow. You may remember this face from this shoot that was oh so lovely (if I do say so myself). Well, we're back at it again, this time adding in the flair, and wise beauty of her mother. These are a few from our Large Format Portrait Session. Each image comes from a negative (that's film) that is 4x5 INCHES.

Meet my GORGEOUS friend Laura and her husband Kart. I've know Laura since middle school in Northern Virginia, and we both live in Utah now. We've happily maintained our friendship!
These are their hilarious and adorable kids, who are happily bribed by trail mix.
ooh! my favorite. Did I mention that she's pregnant? What a beautiful maternal goddess!
TOTAL babe!

Thank you guys so much for being up for my WACKY idea of that couch on orange! I love them!

I was approached by a dear friend who was moving away about documenting her daughters with their grandmother. She was sad they would no longer live near by her and her daughters would not have the chance of getting to know the amazing and strong woman her grandmother is. Having met her on a few occasions myself, I could easily see the importance of creating heirlooms of this relationship (I think the importance exists in all relationships, but because I was able to witness it first hand, I knew the especial importance in this case). Each one of these images has significance in the context and details. She made cookies with them, some show her fantastic backyard, or the love of music she has. The chair in the image a few down was hand-stitched by the girls' great grandmother. BEAUTIFUL.

A while back I posted about being hired to photograph some family property at the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon. The client wanted to preserve the memories her husband had in the area, and create something as an heirloom for the family of the life, and land, this family created in this area.... not to mention how much sacrifices it took (and continues to take) for Latter-day Saint generations to promote and live their beliefs. There are two meetinghouses in the area that ancestors built.
For my own family I have photographed where we live, inside and out. The views from windows, our little odd things we loved (like right now the disgusting green door that is still appealing as "home" somehow). I want to remember these things. These aren't snapshots for me, but self-portraits of my family and the way we lived.
Below are images for my client, capturing the beauty that surrounds where they live.

Want some document your own unique life? With portraits of family or your home, I'd be happy to capture your memories!

I went to Colorado at the end of September to photograph. Here are a few of the portraits I did of people I met along the way:
I could tell he was kinda annoyed at my asking to photograph him. He was busy, their computers were down, but I couldn't help myself. Look at his face! Full of personality, reality, everything that matters in a photograph. I knew it was my favorite from the trip (before I even developed the film), and I was right.
She was fantastic. Completely ok with my photographing her (she pulled us over, my dear friend was so entralled telling me about the town of Silverton that as we were descending the peaks and passing this cop, she didn't realize she was going over the limit. We even were joking that the cop was totally going to catch some idiot who wasn't paying attention... apparently that was us!). She gave us a couple great little side roads to photograph on, and I'm excited to head back in the spring!

Last Saturday I had the privilege of donating my services to the 100th Birthday of the LDS Tenth Ward Building. Here are a few highlights:
This lady was a member of the ward starting in 1946. She is 99 years old.
The awe as the time capsule (placed in the cornerstone in 1909) was brought out.
Mix of battalion re-enactment with digital camera. love it.
Face of the ward.
Face of the ward.
Book of Mormon from the time capsule. This is probably my favorite shot.
self-explanatory, I think.
Fun and games as the celebration begins.

She had her baby the week after we were able to get these pictures. Hooray! This is just a sneak peek, but I wanted to get some up. It was a great session and we laughed most of the time.

(As a side note, can anyone tell me why blogger is jacking up my photos and adding pixelation? I'm annoyed.)

Meet Annie O'Connor, unbelievable hairstylist and makeup artist. She needed some new headshots for her website and I was happy to oblige. She did my most recent chop, in case you were interested. If you feel like taking the plunge and want a new 'do, she is the BEST!
